3M Magnesium Chloride buffer pH 3.0, can be used in labortatory work as high ionic strength buffer.
It is used in the elution of bound antibodies from Affinity purification columns.
This highsalt buffer has a low pH, which rapidly elutes Antibodies bound to affinity matrices.
The antibodies can be quickly denatured inactivating their binding, so elution often requires addition of a neutralising
Buffer solution to increase the buffer pH to neutral pH 7.0 in order to reactivate their binding.
