Poly-vinyl Pyrollidone (PVP) MW 40,000

Description:
Polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP (1-ethenylpyrrolidin-2-one)
Molecular biology techniques it is used in Hybridisation procedures in the detection of DNA or RNA.
Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), also commonly called Polyvidone or Povidone, is a water-soluble polymer made from the monomer N-vinylpyrrolidone. PVP is soluble in water and other polar solvents. When dry it is a light flake hygroscopic powder, readily absorbing up to 40% of its weight in atmospheric water.
In solution, it has excellent wetting properties and readily forms films. This makes it good as a coating or an additive to coatings
for use in DNA hybridisation work.
